Three Fabulous Temples

Here are three spectacular temples that could take your breath away and inspire us in a sense of wonder. Wat Rong Khun (Thailand)

Wat Rong Khun (White Temple)is in the Chiang Rai Province and is not like any other Buddhist temple in the world. It is pristine white, instead of being the signature red, gold and green roofs with multi coloured deities and guardians that you would see as a traditional Thai temple. This temple attracts nearly 1.8 million visitors a year.

Even though this temple is relatively new, it was initiated by one of Thailands most famous artists, Chalermchai Kositpipat, in honour of the King of Thailand. Work is still ongoing, and it is expected that three generations of artists will take up to another 60 years to complete painting the artwork inside.

Coming from Bangkok, Korat (AKA Nakhon Rachasima) is the first of the 20 provinces in a region with a population of around 20 million people that you hit.

After a brief pit stop at the pretty Lam Thakong Dam, the first stop proper was the huge Wat Luang Phor Toh temple, about 40 km south of Korat City. They have been working on the magnificent temple forever - well over 10 years - and there's probably at least as long to go until it's finished. With estimates said to exceed a billion baht, its mighty impressive and if you're travelling in your own wheels - the only way to really see Isaan - it's worth a stop.

Its worth noting the gardens are maintained so beautifully, a treat to take some wonderful pictures of the creative work that has gone into providing a sea of colour.

For me this was the finest temple I have experienced so far, it takes your breath away it's so beautiful......the work and detail is outstanding. A memory I will cherish forever. A must place to visit, north west of Udon Thani.

The Buddha sculpture is in pure marble.....it is breathtaking and a thing of absolute beauty. Other works are of such a high standard, when studied its something of pure excellence of craftsmanship.

Any visitors to Thailand its a must no matter where you are, when entering the main building you enter a world of Buddhism and leave with a feeling of calmer and images you will never forget.

Welcome to Udon Thani (Temple)
